UNIT 1 REVISION "THE SOLAR SYSTEM"

We are finishing unit 1 "The Solar System" so we will revise some of the contents of the unit.

Estamos acabando la unidad 4 "El Sistema Solar" y repasaremos algunos de los contenidos de la unidad.

Our galaxy is called "The Milky Way" and inside our galaxy is the Solar System. (Nuestra galaxia se llama "La Vía Lactea" y dentro de nuestra galaxia está el Sistema Solar)

There are eight planets in the Solar System. They are Mercury, Venus, the Earth, MArs, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They all revolve around the Sun. (Hay ocho planetas en el Sistema Solar. Son Mercurio, Venus, LA Tierra, Marte, Jupiter, Saturno, Urano y Neptuno)
The Sun is a star. El sol es una estrella.
Pluto is considered a dwarf planet. (Plutón es considerado un planeta enano)

Our planet, the Earth, moves around the Sun. The Moon is a satellite and it moves around the Earth. (Nuestro planeta, la Tierra, se mueve alrededor del Sol. La Luna es un satélite y se mueve alrededor de la Tierra)
The Earth moves in two different ways. Rotation is the movement of the Earth on its axis.Rotation causes night and day. One rotation takes 24 hours. Revolution is the Earth's movement around the Sun.. Revolution causes the seasons. One revolution takes one year (365 days) (La tierra se mueve de dos formas diferentes. El movimiento de rotación es el movimiento de la Tierra en torno a su eje. El movimiento de rotación causa el día y la noche. La Tierra tarda 24 horas en girar en torno a su eje. El movimiento de traslación es el movimiento de la Tierra alrededor del Sol. Este movimiento causa las estaciones. La Tierra tarde en dar una vuelta al Sol 365 días = 1 año.)
The Moon moves around the Earth and the Sun shines on different parts of it. So it looks like the Moon is changing shape. The shapes are the phases of the Moon. (La Luna se mueve alrededor de la Tierra y el Sol brilla en diferentes partes de ella. Así que parece que la Luna cambia de forma. Esas formas son las fases de la Luna)

There are 24 hours in a day. There are seven days in a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We write the days of the week with the first letter in capital letters. (Hay 24 horas en un día. La semana tiene siete días: lunes, martes, miércoles, jueves, viernes, sábado y domingo. Los días de la semana en inglés se escriben con la primera letra mayúscula)
There are 12 months in a year. They are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December.Months of the year are written in capital letters in English. ( El año tiene doce meses. Estos son enero, febrero, marzo, abril, mayo, junio, julio, agosto, septiembre, octubre,noviembre y diciembre. Los meses en inglés se escriben también con la primera letra mayúscula)

There are 4 seasons in a year. They are spring, summer, autumn or fall and winter. We DON'T write them in capital letters in English. (El año tiene cuatro estaciones: primavera, verano, otoño e invierno)
Air is around the Earth . Water covers most of the Earth. Continents and islands are land above water. ( El aire está alrededor de la Tierra. El agua cubre la mayor parte de la superficie de la Tierra. Los continentes y las islas son tierra sobre el agua)
The Earth has different layers. The crust is the outer layer. The mantle is the middle layer. The core is in the centre. (La Tierra tiene diferentes capas. La corteza es la capa exterior. El manto es la capa media. El núcleo es la parte interior)
